A show deemed ‘one of the best series of all time’ is finally returning in the UK as the first couple of seasons left viewers ‘genuinely creeped’.

To say 2025 is starting out with a bang TV-wise is the understatement of all understatements.

From the very first day of the year giving us a brand-new Netflix Harlan Coben thriller, it has been hit after hit this year so far.

The Traitors season three has been hitting, American Primeval is a hidden gem on Netflix, and don’t get me started on how Severance is one of the best shows around that no one is watching, and it’s back this week.

Severance season two also comes out later this week (Apple TV+)

Severance season two also comes out later this week (Apple TV+)

In addition to all the above, there is another returning show coming to UK screens tomorrow.

From, a mysterious thriller from the creators of Lost, is coming back.

It is not available to watch on Netflix or Prime unfortunately, but its third season will be available to watch from tomorrow on NOW TV.

Originally premiering back in 2022, From is a science-fiction horror series created by John Griffin.

It is no surprise it’s had viewers so unnerved, as it’s set in a ‘nightmarish town’ in Middle America that ‘traps those who enter’.

Imprisoned there, the unwilling residents try to stay alive while desperately seeking a way out.

Oh, and they must also survive the ‘terrifying nocturnal creatures’ in the forest that surrounds them, as well as all the ‘secrets hidden in the town’.

From stars the likes of Harold Perrineau, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Elizabeth Saunders, Ricky He, and Shaun Majumder.

And it’s widely praised by viewers, with an impressing 94 percent score on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer and an 85 percent average audience score.

Fans on our Facebook group, Netflix Bangers, are urging others to watch the series, saying it’s ‘totally worth it’.

“I have been waiting for season three to be annoyed by the CLIFF HANGERS and weekly episodes. This series is a BINGE series… it will drive you nuts if you have to wait a week between episodes,” one wrote.

Another said: “It’s probably one of the rare new horrors that has genuinely creeped me out.”

Others put: “One of the best of all time I wish I could watch it for the first time again.”

Although, one did say: “It’s one of my favourites. But I’ll be honest, you’ll either love it, or hate it.”

The show’s third season, which has released in the US in November of 2024, is a massive hit with critics too.

The series’ third outing has a perfect score of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, with Meagan Navarro of horror-focused website Bloody Disgusting saying: “Even with the mysteries as thorny as ever, Griffin and Pinkner know how to keep us hooked. The showrunners find creative new ways to induce frights.

“Also thanks to the talented cast, it’s easy to follow From down whatever dark path it wants to lead us.”

Leila Latif wrote in their review of season three for A.V. Club: “The series has successfully grounded itself in real emotional stakes, and three seasons in, we genuinely care about these characters despite their frequent missteps and long for them to find the inner strength to continue fighting to survive this coldly-lit hellscape.

“It’s that balance that makes From not just a good show but a potential cult classic, one with enough charisma to keep us coming back for more.”

You can stream seasons one and two of From on NOW, with the third season premiering January 14 in the UK.

When you add to that a cast full of incredible character actors which one fan deemed ‘the best British TV cast of all time’, you know you’re on to a winner.

The final detail that pushed it over the edge for me? The show being based on a series of true stories.

The show is called The Terror, and ITVX added it to the platform after it debuted in America a few years ago.

Check out the trailer here:

Based on a Dan Simmons novel of the same name, the first season is a fictionalised version of a real-life arctic expedition from the 1800s.

Starring Ciaran Hinds, Jared Harris, Tobias Menzies, and Adam Nagaitis, the cast is a veritable who’s who of outstanding character actors you’ve 100 percent seen in numerous films and shows but struggle to place their name.

The show released to genuinely outstanding reviews – with an average of 7.9/10 on IMDb and 87 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Terror is an anthology show so each season features a different cast, with season one receiving a whopping 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

One of the most highly acclaimed shows to be available for free, the first season is an absolute hit with fans who have been singing its praises after watching on ITV.

A 9/10 review on IMDb said: “The first season of The Terror is superb. I binge watched it over three nights and I regard it as essential viewing.”

Another fan called the show ‘bone chilling’ in a 10/10 review on IMDb.

Meanwhile, one Reddit thread on the subreddit r/Television called The Terror ‘one of the best limited series of all time’.

They said: “I love horror TV, but this is so much more. I don’t think most people realize how utterly enthralling a show about a few dozen rough, grungy looking men with bad dental hygiene, trapped in a bleak, colourless landscape for years can be.”

One fan concurred, commenting: “Agreed on all takes; Season 1 assembled the most impressive calibre of British acting in a series that I’ve ever seen.”

Another summed it up brilliantly, saying: “It is a masterpiece – up there with some of the best television ever made IMO. And I didn’t even like the idea of the monster at first but in the end I understood its importance to the ultimate meaning of the story.”

Netflix viewers make major complaint about ending of Harlan Coben's Missing You

Netflix viewers make major complaint about ending of Harlan Coben’s Missing You

Although people loved the gripping series, viewers aren’t too pleased with how it ended

Olivia Burke

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Missing You

Harlan Coben had us all on the edge of our seats with his latest gripping series – however, viewers aren’t too happy about how it all ended.

Missing You made quite the impression after it landed on Netflix on 1 January, thanks to its surprising celebrity cameos and GK Barry’s bombshell minor role.

And I’m sure I’m not just speaking for myself when I say that John Waite’s track ‘Missing You‘ has been playing on a loop in my head since binge-watching the series.

The mystery thriller centred around Detective Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar) had us all on on tenterhooks, as there were so many twists that a lot of us are now in need of a neck brace.

The five gripping episodes follow the plucky cop’s pursuit for the truth, as she works to find out who really killed her father Clint (Lenny Henry) and why her fiancĂŠ Josh (Ashley Walters) suddenly walked out on her.

Kat spots her ex-fella on a dating app 11 years after he ghosted her, which ends up leading her on a wild goose chase as she tries to track him down. Dually, she’s desperately trying to get to the bottom of the mysterious circumstances surrounding her dad’s murder.

But it then emerges that the people closest to Kat have weaved quite the tangled web of lies over the years to ‘protect’ her – and eventually, it all unravels.

In the midst of all this, the detective is also trying to track down a missing mum who’s being held captive by depraved dog breeder Titus (Steve Pemberton).

So as you can imagine, viewers were expecting big things from the finale episode of Missing You, but a lot of people reckon the ending completely missed the mark.

Sorry Coben, but Netflix users aren’t too happy about how the hectic storyline was wrapped up – and who was revealed to be the killer.

In the final 45-minute episode, we found out that Kat’s late father Clint was a corrupt cop who was hiding a secret affair with his gay lover Parker (Cyril Nri).

One of his daughter’s pals, Aqua (Mary Malone), ended up spotting the pair canoodling in the street – and Clint heads to her home to warn her to keep her mouth shut.

He begs Aqua not to spill the beans to Kat, but the conversation ends up being quite explosive and he then attacks Aqua – who has rang Kat’s fella Josh for help. Josh then walks in to see Clint clutching a knife and as he struggles to get the weapon off of him, he ends up unintentionally stabbing his father-in-law to death.

Clint’s former partner in the police force, Stagger (Richard Armitage), then walks in, with the trio vowing to cover the murder up and to never reveal the truth to Kat.

It seemed as though the cop had finally got her happy ending at one point, as she was back with Josh after 11 years apart and had a degree of closure regarding her dad’s death.

But then, she is informed that her elusive other half’s finger print was found on the murder weapon – and her world came crashing down once again. Josh finally confesses exactly what happened while Kat is sat there in shock with tears streaming down her face.

The final shot then shows her reaching out to stroke Josh’s finger as they sit beside each other, both clearly reeling from the situation. And that was that – so I guess Kat’s fate is the last mystery which Coben wanted to leave us with.

However, fans of the show have been taking to social media to express their disappointment about the dramatic ending.

One X user said: “Missing You on Netflix has possibly the worst ending I have ever seen. She might as well as just woken up and it ‘was all a dream’.”

Another wrote: “I loved it up to the ending. What a letdown. I won’t spoil it for you but damn! It had everything, intrigue, a good plot, intense, a guessing game & then, nada.”

A third fumed: “Don’t waste your time on the series Missing You on Netflix. Awful, full of dumb plot holes, and an unsatisfying ending,” while a fourth commented: “I enjoyed Missing You but I think the last episode packed too much in. We could have got an additional two episodes to build up the conclusion.”

Others reckoned it was the perfect way to wrap up the series, with some saying they were ‘shook’ by the revelation that Josh was Clint’s murderer.

I guess you can’t please everyone, eh?

Netflix viewers left questioning themselves after seeing surprise celebrities pop up in Missing You

Netflix viewers left questioning themselves after seeing surprise celebrities pop up in Missing You

The show has a pair of shocking celeb cameos

Michael Slavin

Netflix viewers have been left questioning themselves after seeing bizarre celeb cameos in the new Harlan Coben show, Missing You.

The show has continued the newly found Netflix Coben tradition of releasing a new series on New Year’s Day, and many fans have been binging the show to start off 2025.

It has already overtaken Squid Game to become the number one show in the UK, despite the hit Korean show reportedly having the biggest opening of any Netflix show ever.

The cast is packed with familiar faces even beyond the cameos however, with Slow Horses breakout star Rosalind Eleazar leading the show.

Add to that Sir Lenny Henry, Richard Armitage (of course), Ashley Walters, and Jessica Plummer, and it is an absolutely stacked cast.

When watching the new Harlan Coben thriller however, several viewers have been taken aback at some of the unexpected big names with small parts in the series.

The first and most obvious is GK Barry, who appears in the very first shot of the entire show, albeit slightly obscured.

The podcaster, who recently appeared on I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here, makes her acting debut in the show.

Without spoiling who she is playing, she is shown in the opening scene playing with her hair under a blanket in what seems to be a flashback scene.

Lots of shocked viewers took to Twitter, with one saying: “GK Barry girl, what are you doing here.”

Another said: “No because why is GK Barry in the new Harlan Coben series on Netflix??”

A third tweeted: “I’m so confused just started watching missing you on Netflix and why the f*ck is GK Barry in it.”

The answer, unsurprisingly, is because they asked her to.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan UK, the podcaster said: “They approached my manager and said, ‘We’re doing this new Netflix show, and we’d love Grace to be a little part in it’.

“Well, I’m not going to say no.

“So we got on a call, and they were explaining who my character was, and it made me laugh so much because it’s very on brand”.

GK Barry, whose real name is Grace Keeling, is not the only celeb cameo however.

Matt Willis from Busted also makes a cameo (Netflix)

The other most notable one is Matt Willis, the co-vocalist and bassist for Busted.

Willis appears in the first episode on a date with Eleazar’s DI Kat Donovan.

One fan tweeted: “Started watching missing you on Netflix and up pops Matt Willis as a cameo didn’t even know, what a lovely surprise.”

Another said: “The Matt Willis cameo in #MissingYou is so fun will probs watch the series but 45 seconds or whatever it was of him was wasted we need him in more stuff”.

A third viewer posted: “This new Harlan Coben show giving me jump scare after jump scare. GK Barry? Matt Willis? Wtfffff”.

One of greatest yet harrowing films of all time with 97% Rotten Tomatoes rating added to Netflix

One of greatest yet harrowing films of all time with 97% Rotten Tomatoes rating added to Netflix

It’s ranked as one of the best movies ever made

Tom Earnshaw

Tom Earnshaw

One of the greatest and harrowing films ever made has landed on Netflix for subscribers to sit down and watch the epic movie.

And at more than three hours in length, the drama scores a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score at 98 percent with critics and 97 percent with audiences.

It’s director, which is none other than Hollywood heavyweight Steven Spielberg, famously rejected his pay check for the film for a very good, and honourable, reason.

Liam Neeson stars as Oskar Schindler in the film (Universal Pictures)

Over on IMDb, the film is ranked as the seventh best film of all time with a solid 9/10 rating, ahead of the likes of Pulp Fiction, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Forrest Gump, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

We are talking about the powerful 1993 classic, Schindler’s List.

The black and white film, which runs at three hours and 15 minutes, tells the story of Oskar Schindler. Played by Liam Neeson, it shows his journey as a businessman during the Second World War.

A member of the German Nazi Party, Schindler heads to Krakow on a business trip in the hope of making a small fortune.

Setting up a factory in the city, he employs more than 1,000 Polish-Jewish refugees as a way of bringing in cheap labour, with his mindset being about profit, not playing politics or harbouring grudges against people of a specific religion.

But that quickly turns to protecting their lives after the Nazis start sending Jewish people in the city in to a nearby concentration camp.

Thousands more are killed in the streets of the city as Germany begins to lose the war against the UK, the US, and Soviet Russia.

Ultimately, Schindler bribes SS officer Amon Goth (played by Ralph Fiennes) to transfer 1,100 people from the concentration camp to work at a new factory he wants to set up in the Czech Republic.

With help from his Jewish accountant Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley), he ends up spending his entire fortune to keep these 1,100 people safe under the false pretence of working at a munitions factory, buying goods to make it look like he was producing them.

Despite Schindler’s List making more than $320 million (ÂŁ256 million) at the box office and being a commercial success, its director Steven Spielberg refused to make a penny from its production.

Spielberg, who is Jewish, said: “Let’s call it what it is. I didn’t take a single dollar from the profits I received from Schindler’s List because I did consider it blood money.

“When I first decided to make Schindler’s List I said ‘if this movie makes any profit, it can’t go to me or my family, it has to go out into the world’.”

The director instead used his money from the film to established the University of South Carolina Shoah Foundation, which preserves interviews with holocaust survivors and witnesses.

Filming the movie ‘changed his life’, as Spielberg added: “Filming just outside the gates of Auschwitz-Birkenau, I realized that had I been standing on that exact spot at a different point in time I more than likely would have been killed too.

“I remember talking to a lot of survivors during the production. It was one of the first moments that made me realise there were many, many stories that needed to be told.”
