Barron is often compared to his father, which is hard to avoid, considering he’s the son of a two-time president. In recent years, the the first thing people have tended to notice is how incredibly tall he is, yet during inauguration day, speculation has drawn attention to something else.

It’s well known that Donald Trump has long applied some sort of bronzer to his face, giving it his iconic orange appearance. Now, the staggering question following the inauguration is if Barron has started to do the same.

Barron has a lot of experience in the White House. The now-18-year-old son of Donald and Melania Trump lived with his parents at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue during his father’s first presidential term. But now, things are different.

Barron, who was kept entirely out of the spotlight after leaving the White House, has enrolled at Stern Business School at New York University and, therefore, won’t be living at the White House this time around. Melania, though, recently stated that her son is always welcome in Washington.

Barron has benefitted from Secret Service protection since leaving the White House, and the 18-year-old will continue to have agents around him as he studies at NYU. The federal law enforcement agency previously confirmed that Barron would receive protection, though it didn’t specify exactly how.

Barron Trump “already has his own political ideas,” says source

He will continue living at Trump Tower, and Melania herself has confirmed that she will be spending time in New York with her son. Several sources tell People Magazine that Melania “will do everything she can” to support Barron’s well-being and help him get good grades. Meanwhile, the 18-year-old will not get the “full college experience” by living in a dorm.

“Living in a dorm in a college town isn’t in the stars for him at this point,” a source told People. “Barron already has his own political ideas. It all needs to be monitored in light of the situation.”

Another source told the news outlet that living at home is Barron’s best option now.

“Whether or not others think he is capable of being on his own, Melania feels it’s better to be around him as much as possible,” that source said. “I see that continuing.”

Melania’s reason for being close to Barron doesn’t just involve supporting him in his early days at NYU. Two other sources told People Magazine that his father’s return to the White House as President of the United States has played a part.

“Melania worries about the hate in the country and how it falls on her son, who is innocent of any of this,” the source said. “She is and has been a good sounding board for him. They talk about life as it is and how they are in the spotlight,” the source adds. “She tries to normalize his life. If that is even possible.”

On Monday, Barron had to skip any classes he might have had, and he did so for an important reason. His father was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, and Barron was with him during the inauguration and for the celebrations at Nationwide Arena later that day.

In his speech to his supporters, Donald Trump praised his son for helping him win the election. The president asked the crowd if they had heard of his “tall son,” to which they responded with loud cheers.

“He knew the youth vote. You know we won the youth vote by 36 points,” Trump said. “He was saying, ’dad, I got to go out and to this and that one and we did a lot of them. He respects them all, he understood it very well. He said ’dad, you got to go out and do Joe Rogan, all these guys that we did. They were all great, right? Barron, they were all great.”

Barron Trump and Joe Biden’s interaction spread like wildfire on the internet, with some reveling in the relative mystery of the encounter. Biden smiled as he interacted with Barron, but after they shared some words, his happy expression changed to a more solemn one. Speaking with the Daily Mail, body language expert and communications coach Judi James has another theory. She explained that Barron “very confidently” and “charmingly” bent to shake hands with Biden.

“And although Biden’s face seems to fall as though Barron has passed on some kind of sinister threat or message, the truth was less dramatic as Barron seemed to be leaning to greet Kamala and Biden’s face was registering the fact that he’d finished his greeting ritual with Trump’s son,” James said.

She added that Barron’s humor and so-labeled “super-confidence” have led people to misread what Donald’s son really could’ve said to Biden.

“When he was introduced by his father, he stood like a rock star acknowledging the cheers and chants of his name and even cupped his ear to increase them. Which is probably why people might assume (wrongly I’d say) that he’s possibly making barbed comments on his way out here,” James continued.

Moreover, James explained that Barron was “working as a sweeper” during the inauguration, a role he frequently takes on when appearing with his father at any event.

“This means he tends to arrive and leave behind his parents, but instead of just walking off behind them as he did when he was younger, he spends time shaking hands and offering gracious-looking words,” James continued, concluding by saying that “defines” Barron’s presence and status without having to compete with his father.

“He lets everyone know that he is becoming a force to be reckoned with in his own right and because of his height and the increase in his confidence signals, it gives him a rather princely air, presence-wise. Express US wrote that Barron was sporting a new ‘healthy glow,’ with the Mirror even claiming Barron had a ‘bronze’ tan — just like his father.

When attending the church ceremony in St John’s Episcopal Church on Monday, Barron was seen with bronzed cheekbones and a sparkling forehead, which many compared to Donald. Donald Trump’s orange face has been reported on for years. When the current president was younger, his face was paler because he didn’t wear bronzer.

So why did Donald start wearing bronzer to begin with? Speaking with the Mirror, celebrity makeup artist Safia Cox claimed it could be related to his confidence levels.

“I think he uses some sort of fake tan or tinted moisturizer with a bronzer. I 100% do not think it’s sun beds as it would be a completely different tone,” Cox said.

“I think it’s some sort of fake tan or some sort of tinted moisturizer with bronzer, and he’s then used powder with it. It’s definitely some sort of cream product that he uses and has probably mattified it after because it’s so orange. You can see the rim around his face. If you look closely at his hairline, it’s very pale, and that’s not from sunbeds; he’s slapping some sort of cream product on.”

“He has orange blindness”

Cox guessed Trump has “some sort of fake tan or some sort of tinted moisturizer with bronzer,” which he then uses a powder to apply. She continued by explaining that close to his hairline, you can see that it’s “very pale.”

“I think his makeup has changed over the years, and I think it as he’s got older and potentially a little more insecure. The ever-changing orange hue has become the subject of many internet discussions and memes – with people wondering why he likes to be so orange,” Cox continued, concluding that some have argued that Trump uses more bronzer when stressed.

“He has orange blindness or fake tan blindness, and I don’t think he realizes,” the makeup expert told the Mirror. “It’s not a nice bronze, he doesn’t look like he’s just hopped off a plane he just looks like he’s layered on fake tan. It’s bizarre; he’s either really insecure, and it’s for confidence and thinking he looks good, or he’s being clever and doing it to get people to talk about him.”
